Consumer and Community Participation
Providing the community with opportunities to have input into decision making with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).
Consumer and Community Participation describes all the ways we talk and work with you regarding your health care.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) believes that we can work together with you, the local community, to build a more responsive, transparent, accessible, accountable and appropriate local health service.
A Health Consumer is anyone who is accessing health services or will potentially access them in the future. This includes families, Carers and anyone in a patient support network.
ISLHD offers a range of opportunities for consumers to share ideas, insight and feedback on our projects and policies to help inform decisions. You can take part by:
- Sending feedback through the compliments and complaints process
- Taking part in general consultations and surveys
- Becoming a consumer representative
- Reviewing ISLHD consumer resources (Document Review Team)
- Attending ISLHD Annual public meetings
What you tell us is always recorded, analysed and considered along with other input and technical, financial or legislative requirements in our decision making.
Our Consumer and Community Participation Framework has been designed to improve our consistency and effectiveness in our approach to Community Engagement. The framework demonstrates our commitment of working and engaging with communities, groups and service users to develop and shape services and build capacity of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
