Which Clinic should I choose?

  • The clinics are set up differently for each age group as the way they are tested is different. As a result the clinics listed above offer services to different age groups. Please check for a clinic offering a service for the age group required, in the nearest convenient location.
  • The age groups are based on developmental age so in the event of a developmental delay / intellectual disability please choose a clinic which matches the developmental age of the client. When booking in please alert the admin officer that you require the particular clinic because of a developmental delay or intellectual disability.

Who can use our services?

  • Due to the limitations in our resources, we are unable to provide a screening service for children under the age of 8 years – please only make an appointment if you have a genuine concern that there is a hearing problem.
  • 4 Year Old Healthy Kids Check Hearing Screening can be completed by your Child and Family Health Nurse – please contact your local Community Health Centre.
  • Our services are available to all members of the community in the ISLHD service area, of any age, who have a Hearing/Auditory concern.
  • There is no charge for our services.

Making Contact

  • Kids Cottage Clinic is listed as having two phone numbers – please use the number relating to your area of residence. Calling 4297 1022 will be answered by Admin at Kids Cottage and calling 4223 8044 will be answered by Admin at Child and Family Services at Port Kembla Hospital. Clients are booked into separate clinics to ensure equal access to services across the catchment area.
  • As the lines into all the Hearing Clinic numbers are very busy it is not unusual to be redirected to Voicemail. In this event please leave a message giving your name, the best contact phone number and the best time to contact. We will endeavour to return your call as soon as possible but not always on the same day. If you do not get a call back within a week please try again – sometimes the messages are hard to understand and we may not have been able to work out every digit of your phone number.
