Palliative Care Service

Palliative Care

When an illness cannot be cured, Palliative Care is available to help manage symptoms and provide support. Palliative Care aims for comfort and quality of life.

Palliative Care is provided according to the patient's needs and symptoms, as well as their personal wishes and goals for care.

Palliative Care teams include doctors, nurses, allied health staff, social workers and volunteers. These teams provide services to people in hospital and at home. They are free of charge.

They provide:

  • Regular assessments and treatments to target symptoms such as pain and nausea.
  • Support for physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs.
  • Ongoing support to family members and carers.
