The $379 million redevelopment of Shellharbour Hospital will provide updated facilities and an enhanced service offering to help meet current and future demand for health care within a growing population.
The NSW Government has committed $251 million for the redevelopment, with an additional $128 million from the Australian Federal Government.
The Shellharbour Hospital redevelopment will deliver more operating theatres, a new emergency department and expanded surgical services.
Additionally there will be an increase in support services such as x-ray and pathology, resulting in an increase in the capacity to treat and manage more acute medical patients at Shellharbour Hospital.
ISLHD is currently working with Health Infrastructure to finalise plans for the redevelopment, and the community will be updated as these plans are progressed.
Early works including upgrades to the Ring Road commenced in early 2019.
