What the service is

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) Audiology Service provides hearing assessments and hearing management advice to residents of the Illawarra and Shoalhaven with hearing and ear health concerns. Children (over 8 years) and adults can access the service at Port Kembla Hospital. 

Hearing aid prescription, evaluation and maintenance are not offered as part of this service. 

How to access this service

A referral is required to book a hearing appointment (this can be from a GP or other health practitioner). 

Children should be referred when there is a direct concern for ear health or hearing, or when there is a concern for their overall development. 

The adult diagnostic service is available for hearing concerns (other than hearing aid concerns) / ear health concerns.
