Bereavement Information Study

The Illawarra and Shoalhaven Palliative Care Service have a commitment to improving the support and services we provide.

We need your help to do this.

We are currently working to improve the information we provide to people after the death of someone close to them. We know that this can be a difficult time and we want to ensure we’re providing the right information at the right time.

We want to hear from people who have received information from a local health service or hospital after the death of a friend or family member. If this applies to you, please consider sharing your experience with us.

We plan to hold small focus groups in various locations in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, so that we can capture your feedback. We are inviting all members from our community to participate, including people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and people who come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

We invite you to attend a small focus group with 5-8 other people to discuss these questions:

  • What information did you receive after the death of someone significant?
  • When did you receive the information, and was the timing right?
  • How did you receive the information?
  • Was the information helpful? If not, what information would be useful?

This will be the first study of its kind, and will help us to improve the support we provide in our local community. Please get in touch with us if you are interested, and we can discuss this with you in more detail.
