Mirrabook Mental Health Unit
Overview
What the service is
Mirrabook is a 20 bed acute Mental Health facility based at Shellharbour Hospital. The unit provides care to people of all ages that present with Mental Health concerns. Mirrabook provides care to consumers under the Mental Health Act 2007, as both voluntary and involuntary admissions.
What we do
The aim for Mirrabook is to support the individual, their families and carers in their recovery and to support their transition back into the community. Mirrabook staff include nurses, medical and allied health professionals, as well as peer support workers; and the team work in partnership with the consumer in the planning, treatment and delivery of care. Mirrabook engages with community mental health services, and other community agencies to ensure consumer needs are supported.
Consumers are provided with a range of daily supports and activities, including group activities, educational support, and exercise and wellbeing groups.

How to get there
You can drive to Shellharbour Hospital or use public transport. The nearest train station is Oak Flats Railway Station. Premier Illawarra buses service the area. The Mirrabook Mental Health Inpatient Unit is in a building behind the main hospital building.

Free public parking is available at the front and rear of the Shellharbour Hospital site.
