Dr Rashna Chinoy

Dr Chinoy

Dr Chinoy is the Head of Service for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology encompassing Wollongong, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven Hospitals. She brings more than 20 years of experience in the field of O&G, caring for women on a global scale having worked in Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the United States with major concentration in Women and Community Health.
Dr Chinoy enjoys supervising and mentoring junior doctors and those training to specialise in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a training supervisor for RANZCOG and a term supervisor for JMOs rotating within the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
In her current role as Head of Service, she is extremely focused, dedicated and passionate about improving and enhancing women’s health within the ISLHD. She strives ceaselessly as a leader to ensure that her team delivers the best possible quality of care and health outcomes pertaining to women’s health in general and maternity care in particular.

WarrenA/Prof Warren Davis is a highly experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist who works at both Wollongong Private Hospital and Wollongong Public Hospital. As well as general O&G, he specialises in prenatal diagnosis, procedural ultrasound, complicated obstetrics and complex gynaecology surgery.

Dr Bindu Murali

Associate Professor and Clinical Lead

BinduA/Prof Bindu Murali is a senior female gynaecologist with extensive clinical and surgical experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for over twenty years. She lives in Wollongong and has been working in the Wollongong/Shellharbour region for over 10 years.

A/Prof Murali works as a Senior Staff Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the Wollongong and Shellharbour Public Hospitals as well as a Visiting Medical Officer in Wollongong Private Hospital. She is the Academic Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology program in the University of Wollongong and is actively involved in the surgical training of The Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology accredited registrars.

She is highly committed to providing the most up-to-date and evidence based management for complex gynaecological problem including surgical management.  A/Prof Murali is a very meticulous surgeon, paying great attention to details and carefully addresses risk management issues with all procedures.

She undertakes all minor and major Gynaecological surgeries including laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomies and other complex gynaecological surgeries with special interest and expertise in vaginal surgeries.  

 

Dr Sameer Dikshit

SameerDr Dikshit is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist with nearly 20 years’ experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
He is also a senior tutor at the University of Wollongong
His expertise and areas of interest include:

•    Ultrasound
•    Fetal and Maternal medicine
•    All aspects of general gynaecology, laparoscopy.

Dr Harsha Ananthram

Staff Specialist, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

HarshaDr Ananthram has completed his specialist training in Queensland, and has worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 11 years. 

Dr Ananthram has a passion for evidence based Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Quality and Safety, and legal medicine. He is committed to Quality Improvement and Patient Experience initiatives to help implement best practices and improve outcomes within the service. He has helped establish a post-natal service at Wollongong Hospital for women with births complicated by third and fourth degree anal sphincter injuries. He is actively involved in guideline development and is a member of the Policy and Practice Committee for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. He is currently undertaking a Masters in Philosophy with James Cook University exploring ethical issues around informed consent in childbirth. He is also undertaking a Masters in Health and Medical Law with the University of Melbourne.

Dr Ananthram places emphasis on inter-professional education and research. As a Senior lecturer, he currently facilitates Obstetrics and Gynaecology teaching for medical students at the University of Wollongong. He is a member of the Illawarra Shoalhaven health Education Centre and has been involved in helping conduct high fidelity simulations to help improve multi-disciplinary care of patients in emergencies. He is involved in the oversight and training of specialists-in-training accredited by The Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is an approved training supervisor for the DRANZCOG Advanced program that helps tailor skills for GP’s intending to provide high quality care in rural and remote Australia.

Dr Emma Tetstall

UOW lecturer, Staff Specialist, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist,

EmmaDr Emma Tetstall has established a home in the Illawarra with her young family. She has a focus on women-centred Obstetric care and has additional qualifications for management of high risk obstetrics, ultrasound and pre-natal diagnosis. She works in both private and public sectors in the Illawarra.

Dr Tetstall completed the majority of her training at The Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick and has furthered her qualifications in infertility and ultrasound diagnosis. Holding a Masters degree in Reproductive Medicine, and Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Dr Tetstall is committed to education and facilitates the O&G Teaching program at Wollongong Hospital. She also provides lectures at UOW and is an examiner for RANZCOG pre-examination courses.

Dr Tetstall believes strongly in open communication and holistic approaches to all aspects of women's health. She is happy to discuss all birth options and aims to make collaborative decisions and birth plans. 

Dr Tetstall's areas of special interest include:

•    High risk obstetric care (including IVF, multiple pregnancies, advanced maternal age, underlying medical conditions and complex medical conditions)

Dr Lionel Reyftmann

LionelAssociate Professor Lionel Reyftmann is a French Obstetrician and Gynaecologist qualified in reproductive endocrinology and fertility. 

Dr Reyftmann moved to Australia in 2010 and completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery.

From 2015 to 2020, he was academic leader of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at the Graduate School of Medicine of the University of Wollongong.

He has authored or co-authored more than 30 papers, encompassing such topics as IVF, prenatal genetic diagnosis, endometriosis, laparoscopy and lifestyle factors related to infertility.

His clinical interests include the management of infertility and pregnancy loss, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain.

He is responsible for the teaching and supervision of minimally invasive gynaecological surgery which includes laparoscopic hysterectomies and myomectomies, and complex cases of endometriosis.

JoeDr McCosker is a Senior Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who has been practicing in the Illawarra region since 1993.

Dr David Greening

GreeningDavid has been a specialist in the Illawarra for 20 years. He undertook his medical training in NZ. Moving to Australia, he gained his FRACGP and spent time as an RFDS doctor at Broken Hill and as an AEA doctor in Asia. He did his O&G specialist training at the Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. He commenced sub-specialist training for reproductive medicine in the UK at Hammersmith IVF Unit of Lord Robert Winston and completed his final 2 years at Genea in Sydney.

Since 2015 Dr Greening has been the Director of The Fertility Centre Wollongong. His specialty is recurrent IVF failure and recurrent miscarriage. David has been delivering babies in the Illawarra since 2002 and continues to practice privately with an interest in infertility and research at UOW as an Associate Professor.

Dr Greening is a published author and his book is called "Roadmap to Fertility" for patients.

Dr Tahrir Basheer

TahrirDr Basheer is a Senior Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who has been practicing in the Illawarra region since 2005. 

Dr Basheer’s areas of special interest are: 
•    Vaginal surgeries
•    Laparoscopic Surgeries 
•    Managing abnormal uterine bleeding both medically and surgically
•    Obstetrics

Dr Basheer operates at Wollongong Private Hospital, Wollongong Day Surgery, Wollongong Public Hospital and Shellharbour Public Hospital.
