Cardiovascular Clinical Trials in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven
The Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Unit of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) operates from the Illawarra Heart Health Centre at Wollongong Hospital. Since its inaugural clinical trial in 1988, research has remained integral to Wollongong Hospital's cardiology department. The Cardiology Clinical Trials Unit upholds its extensive research legacy by providing the Illawarra community with the latest advancements in cardiovascular treatment.
Every month patients are enrolled to clinical trials run by the ISLHD Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Unit. They receive specialised support and expert clinical care from dedicated staff in the area cardiovascular disease including:
- Coronary Artery Disease (angina, heart attack)
- Heart Failure
- Hypertension
- Hypercholesterolemia
- Arrythmia
- Valvular heart disease
- Aortic aneurysms
- Peripheral artery disease
- Thromboembolic disease
Trials cover both investigational medicinal products (IMP) and non-IMP trials.
