The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) is committed to supporting high quality research and the translation of findings into practice. By building our research capability, we are working to improve the quality of care that we provide to, and the health outcomes of, our community.
ISLHD's vision is to embed research, innovation and evidence translation as core business, improving health outcomes, strengthening our workforce, and delivering care that is locally relevant, globally informed, and grounded in community and First Nations leadership.

The ISLHD Research Office:
- Develops and implements ISLHD's research strategy,
- Manages and supports a portfolio of priority research,
- Runs internal grant schemes, including the Research Ideas Grant Scheme,
- Runs education and mentoring programs, including the Early Career Research Mentorship Program,
- Provides research ethics and governance advice and review,
- Governs and administers external grant applications,
- Administers RedCAP,
- Supports Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) compliance,
- Facilitates data access and statistical support in conjunction with the Performance Unit.
