
About the Artist
Jasmine Sarin is a proud Kamilaroi and Jerrinja woman from NSW. She was born and raised in Wollongong (Dharawal country) and also spent some time on the South Coast in Nowra (Jerrinja and Yuin country). She has family connections and ties to Coonabarabran in Central West NSW (Kamilaroi country).
Jasmine is also a Rescue Qualified Firefighter with FRNSW, a lover of good coffee, rugby league and a self-taught Aboriginal artists and graphic designer. Jasmine's artwork tells the story of her experiences growing up and her ongoing journey in this world. Jasmine's style brings contemporary methods and concepts to the oldest culture on earth.
About the artwork - Garadyigan
"Garadyigan" is the Dharawal word meaning "Healer" (One who uses medicines to heal).
This artwork was commissioned by the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District to reflect the complex and ongoing relationship between health services and community to improve and provide culturally appropriate health programs.
