What we do
Paediatric Assessment Unit (located in the Paediatric Inpatient Unit)
The Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) accepts children with an acute illness who are referred by the Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department or the Paediatric inpatient unit.
The PAU nurses and doctors will review the assessment and provide treatment. This can include:
- treatment support
- access to specialist care
- medications and fluids

Paediatric Inpatient Unit
Our Paediatricians provide care for infants, children and adolescents up to 16 years of age. If your child is 16 years and above, but still at school, they can be admitted to the Paediatric inpatients service by an adult medical specialist or surgeon.
There are two paediatric inpatient units: Shoalhaven Hospital and Wollongong Hospital.
