Youth Mental Health
Overview
The Youth Mental Health (YMH) service works with young people from age 14-24 years, who have experienced a first episode of psychosis within the last two years.
YMH focuses on early intervention and time limited, targeted care to improve mental health and well-being.
Depending on the young person’s needs, YMH provide interventions including:
- Education about mental illness
- Psychological therapy
- Psychiatric treatment
- Family and carer support
- Assistance with education and employment via the youth mental health rehabilitation service
- Support with transition of care and referral to appropriate community services for ongoing support where appropriate
