Youth Mental Health

Overview

The Youth Mental Health (YMH) service works with young people from age 14-24 years, who have experienced a first episode of psychosis within the last two years.

YMH focuses on early intervention and time limited, targeted care to improve mental health and well-being.

Depending on the young person’s needs, YMH provide interventions including:

  • Education about mental illness
  • Psychological therapy
  • Psychiatric treatment
  • Family and carer support
  • Assistance with education and employment via the youth mental health rehabilitation service
  • Support with transition of care and referral to appropriate community services for ongoing support where appropriate
