Hepatitis C testing
The C Side Van team offers free, easy, and accurate testing for Hep C. To test for Hep C we collect a few drops of blood from your finger, called ‘fingerprick’ technology. After completing the blood test, we will let you know when your results will be ready. Our nurse will contact you to inform you of your test results. Should you test positive for Hep C, the C Side Van team will support you on your treatment journey.
Fibroscan
A Fibroscan measures liver fibrosis or ‘scarring’. The scan can show liver damage caused by chronic Hep C.- This free test will assist our nurse and doctor with finding the right treatment for you. Fibroscanning does not hurt, it is like an ultrasound of the liver.
Hepatitis C Treatment
Medications to make Hep C easy to cure have been available since March 2016. You no longer need weekly injections. New medications consist of tablets that are easy to take and offer a 95% chance of cure. Most people don't have any side effects. You will need to take one to three tablets for eight to 12 weeks. This will depend on which medicine our doctor will prescribe for you. Our doctor will decide which medicine to give you and how long you need to take it. This depends on whether you have taken Hep C medications in the past. It will also depend on how well your liver is working. Our nurse will help you on your treatment journey and support you through treatment.
