NSW Carers (Recognition Act) 2010
The NSW Carers (Recognition) Act 2010 is a law that recognises the important role that carers play in our community. Under this Act government organisations in NSW are required to recognise, listen to and respect carers and:
- Staff must be aware of the Carers Charter which guides how carers should be treated
- Consult with organisations or bodies representing carers when developing policies that impact on carers
- Consider the needs of working carers in human resource policy
