We are committed to creating cultural safety a Culturally Welcoming environment for Aboriginal patients and visitors who are accessing our Hospital services. Aboriginal Health Workers are employed across a number of hospital and community based services and within the Social Work Department at the Wollongong and Shoalhaven District Memorial hospitals.
The “Nabu” Aboriginal Family Room is located on Level 7 of the Wollongong Hospital and is open during standard business hours Monday to Friday. If you need to access the room after hours please talk Security on the Ground level.
All staff employed in our hospital services are required to attend ‘Respecting the Difference – Cultural Awareness training’ to assist them in providing culturally appropriate support and care to Aboriginal patients and their families.
