Aboriginal Employment Strategy

The District acknowledges the unique and valuable role played by Aboriginal members of the health community and as such has devised an Aboriginal Employment Strategy. The Aboriginal Employment Strategy focuses on three key action areas of Recruitment, Recognition and Retention which is underpinned by strengthening and supporting organisational culture.

The Strategy, aligned to the NSW Good Health – Great Jobs: Aboriginal Workforce Strategic Framework 2016 - 2020 is a commitment designed to respect, engage and grow a culturally safe workplace across the public health sector in clinical, non-clinical and leadership roles for Aboriginal people.

Stepping Up

Good Health, Great JobsStepping Up is NSW Health’s online recruitment resource for Aboriginal applicants and hiring managers. The resource supports the NSW Ministry of Health’s commitment to growing the Aboriginal workforce across the public health sector and also offers information on career opportunities in health and advice to new starters to ease the transition to NSW Health.

Stepping Up aims to assist Aboriginal job applicants understand how to apply for roles in NSW Health by clarifying the recruitment process and addresses some of the challenges that can be experienced by hiring managers so they can more effectively structure recruitment to roles within NSW Health.
